Projector 1.00 is a project scheduling tool that uses critical path analysis to determine early start, late start, early completion, late completion, and total project time from a project description file which provides activity names, durations and prerequisites.
It produces a tabular report and a Gantt chart analysis of the project, highlighting those activities comprising the project's critical path. The web site contains additional information including a sample project description file and a link to download a free demo version.
The user interface appears to be based on entering text files; it seems likely that there are no small arbitrary limits on project size, but this does not look to be the "friendly Linux alternative to MS Project," which is unfortunate.

This software uses software written in Perl to generate diagrams using LaTeX. At present, the input comes purely in the form of text files; there is no graphical user interface.
Building a "clone" of Microsoft Project 98, using GNOME tools. (hosted at SourceForge )
MrProject is a project management application that can help build project plans and track the progress of a project. Based on GNOME tools.
The hosting company, CodeFactory, has apparently gone under. The project has been moved and relaunched as Planner.
Successor to MrProject, this GNOME application draws Gantt charts and the like. It does not yet support doing automatic task rebalancing; you have to place tasks largely by hand.
